At the peak of an impressive hoar frost event this morning, a breeze out of the SW quickly wiped it all out. I was on the backside of a tree line to experience brief "white out" conditions comprised exclusively of frost crystals.

DSLR time lapses coupled with matching star trail stacks in those batches I was able to document a Quadrantid meteor early this day. Look for Venus rising in the fourth clip as I just wanted to see if anything would happen to the SE. More about my experience can be found at http://pawleewurx.blogspot.com/2011/0...

Time lapse video and stills sequence from the last game of the JFL season set to audio from the event. Final score was Clinton 28, Warrensburg 22.

Note: Music is second generation from a distant speaker shot simultaneously and was not dubbed in. Decision to use this segment was for our announcer although the music was a well timed editorial style element. GO CARDS!!!

Rough DSLR time lapse with radar grabs of this popular annual event made even more special by a nearby storm to spit out lightning during the show. Audio extracted from video featuring dialogue by my daughter and her three year old niece as well as thunder is authentic. Listen towards the end for the man singing to the simultaneous radio broadcast though you might need headphones. I couldn't have asked for a more perfectly synced sound clip.

DSLR time lapse with audio extracted from previous upload.

August 19, 2011 - This a redo so to include actual audio from the event.

Time lapse of a tornado warned storm to basically go overhead of my location in NW Decatur IL. This cell was tornado warned for most of it's duration with a strong couplet noted on velocity radar scan. The storm pretty much collapsed into a downburst at my location but not before producing a large wall cloud that I lost due to going behind my building. It can be seen at right as well as numerous leading edge circulations including a possible funnel cloud. This was not the Williamsville cell but a secondary one just to it's S. To give perspective, i've included a radar sequence.

Outflow boundary convergence occurs towards the end.

Non-severe morning storm canvassing the down state early and well before the Northern Illinois chaos.

Clips, audio and radar sequence featuring a tornado warned storm lifting out of Christian County IL this day. Aside from being unique for the time of year, significant wind damage was reported across the region. More info c/o NWS below.

Time lapse, no audio of fog development riding up and over a weak thermal boundary created as result of wind break behind and to the right.

Montage of a tornado warned storm that produced numerous EF0 tornadoes between Macon and Piatt counties this day. Additional tornadoes were also reported in Vermilion county as well. The entire complex went up along a stalled frontal boundary with the most significant end result being the flash flooding to occur within the I-72 corridor between Springfield and Champaign.

One of countless dust devils observed today to the NW of Forsyth.

Time lapse of the brief display that was observed despite heavy light pollution. Distant coyote audio was extracted from iPhone video shot during the session.

Separate early cluster to go up well out ahead of the main severe warned MCS to pass later this night.

Time lapse clips featuring strong storms over Marion and Richland County Illinois. In clip one, watch as well as listen for the huge flock of snow geese attempt escape only to return and hunker down. This cell was in the process of gusting out and though severe warned at the onset, would lose its warning upon passage. Dime sized hail was still observed at my location. Cell in clip two had just lost it's severe warning from over Flora and was quickly departing to the NE. Clips are only sped up 4x as weather this day was already fast moving with storm motions of 50 MPH or greater. Though part of the same parent system, these storms were not in the line of supercells simultaneously producing violent tornadoes across southern Indiana or Kentucky and were instead, back along the cold front.

Just a short clip from back in 2006 that I decided to make useful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummingb...

Brief montage featuring the arrival of Winter Storm Q

Radar capture c/o RadarScope for iPhone

Short montage featuring pics and clips of three separate thunderstorm cells I followed this day. What makes the project unique is that I figured out how to extract audio from each clip, save as an audio file and reintroduce a sample to the time lapse clips thus making them more interesting. Wish I could have been doing this all along. Oh well, we live, we learn. Enjoy!

DSLR time lapse clips of a slow moving storm system to drift across South Central Illinois early this day. I was on the northern fringe so although my area didn't get the heavy rain like points south, we did witness a continuous lightning display in the cloud canopy. Further W in Morgan and Sangamon counties, over 4 inches of rain was reported resulting in widespread flash flooding.
